Last week, the Kentucky Wesleyan College baseball team added eight players on signing day, the softball team announced an inaugural hitting camp, and the indoor track and field team opened their season by setting several school records.

SOFTBALL
The Panthers announced their upcoming inaugural KWC Softball Winter Hitting Camp, and they’ve already gotten plenty of response.

The four-week hitting camp is set to being on Jan. 6 and run each Sunday throughout the month. After Friday’s announcement, sessions were originally available at 5 p.m., 6:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., though the first two are full and only a limited number of spots for the third session remain open. Each session is capped at 16 participants, and attendees must be in grades four through 12.

Instruction will be provided by coaches and members of the Kentucky Wesleyan softball team, who were the 2017 Great Midwest Athletic Conference champions. Emphasis will include fundamentals, mechanics and drills that the Panthers use on a daily basis.

Campers will be put in class-appropriate groups. All camp activities will be held at the Panther Hitting Facility.

An online registration form is available by clicking https://kwcpanthers.com/sb_output.aspx?form=33. The cost of the camp is $100 with payment due upon arrival on Jan. 6.

BASEBALL
The baseball program announced the signing of eight scholar-athletes on Monday according to Head coach Todd Lillpop.

“I’m very excited about this group of signees,” he said. “Our assistants Casey Hamilton and Ryne Mantooth did a phenomenal job signing talented players that will help our program continue to get better, and take our program to the next level.

“This class is very talented on the field, but also does a great job in the classroom.  We look forward to them arriving in Owensboro where they will represent us well both on and off the field.”

This year’s signing class is composed of three pitchers, four infielders and one outfielder, including scholar athletes from Kentucky, Texas, Missouri and Georgia.
