“Yesterday in Sports” brings you the highlights from sports in Owensboro and Daviess County.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Apollo 49, Hopkins County Central 29
The E-Gals (5-2) stretched their win streak to three games by taking down the Lady Storm (3-4) on the road.

Kassidy Daugherty led the team with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Lexi Shadowen added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Others scorers were Zoe Floyd (9 points), Addison Carter (7 points), Amber Dunn (5 points), Amari Sanders (2 points) and Brylee Rhodes (1 point).

Apollo will travel to Meade County on Monday before playing Madisonville-North Hopkins on Thursday to start the Owensboro Invitational Tournament.

DuPont Manual 69, Owensboro 64 (overtime)
The Lady Aces (4-2) weren’t able to hold on to a halftime lead, as the Lady Crimsons (4-3) hit some outside shots down the stretch for the win in the Centria Metals/Penn Station Shootout at Franklin County. Catholic’s 36-21 halftime lead was cut to 45-45 by the end of the third quarter.

The Lady Aces were led in scoring by Mackenzie Keelin (20) and Hannah McKay (17). Others scoring for the team were Sarah Beth Clemens (10), Madelyn Lyon (6), Spencer Harvey (5), Isabella Henning (2), Caroline Reid (2) and Ally Maggard (2).

Catholic is off until Thursday when the play Hopkinsville to start the Owensboro Invitational Tournament.

Ohio County 51, Owensboro 43
The Lady Devils (6-3) used a late push but couldn’t overcome a 20-6 deficit after the first quarter on the road against the Lady Eagles (7-1).

Tayonna Greer led the scoring for Owensboro with 14 points. Other scorers were Mykael Winstead (8), Victoria Whitlock (7), Kaylyn Sowders (7), Amaya Curry (5) and Lyric Lawrence (2).

Owensboro returns to action Thursday against Calloway County to start the Owensboro Invitational Tournament.

WRESTLING
Apollo finished second at the Five Star General Classic at Lafayette in a field of 24 teams. They edged out Woodford County, but were 27 points behind top finisher Madison Central.

Preston Mattingly (120) and Jack Fuller (170) had first-place finishes. Joseph Morgan finished (113) and Jake Insko (138) each took second, while Cameron Baker finished third at 160. Cameron Devine (106), Samuel Ramirez (126) and Cade Crume (220) finished fourth.
