“Yesterday in Sports” brings you the highlights from sports in Owensboro and Daviess County.

Boys’ basketball: Apollo, Daviess County, Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic, Trinity
Girls’ basketball: Apollo, Daviess County, Owensboro Catholic, Trinity

BOYS
Daviess County 59, Greenwood 58 (OT)
Chase Luckett knocked down a 3-pointer at the buzzer, allowing the Panthers (5-7) to escape with a win over the Gators (6-6) in the final round of the South Central Bank-Halton Classic at Allen-County Scottsville.

Daviess County had to fight back from a 14-4 hole after the first quarter, and they used a game-high 25 points from Dakota Walden to force overtime. Luckett finished with 5 points.

Also scoring were Mason Payne (10), Chris Hillard (8), Gavan Ray (7) and Camron Johnson (4).

The Panthers travel to play 9th District opponent Apollo at 7 p.m. Friday.

Allen County-Scottsville 72, Owensboro Catholic 71
In a game with seven lead changes, the Aces (9-3) came up just short against the host Patriots (12-2) in the championship game of the South Central Bank-Halton Classic.

Peyton Survant hit five 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 17 points, John Parker added 16, and Ty Vincent had 12. Also scoring were Andrew Riney (8), Drew Hartz (8), Brian Griffith (6), Zach Cecil (3) and Ji Webb (1).

Catholic will return to action at 7 p.m. Friday when they host Owensboro for a 9th District game.

Hopkins County Central 71, Apollo 69
Marshall County 50, Apollo 41
The Eagles (1-14) came up short in a pair of games, falling to the Storm (5-7) and then the host Marshals (6-7) in the Marshall County Holiday Classic.

Against Marshall County, Harrison Bowman led with 12 points and Cameron Frantz added 10. Also scoring were Ryan Ash (8), Dan St. Claire (7), Jaden Kelly (2) and Dylon Talbott (2). No stats were available from the game against Hopkins County Central.

Apollo will play again at 7 p.m. Friday when they host Daviess County in a 9th District game.

Bullitt East 68, Owensboro 54
Ten different players scored for the Red Devils (7-6), but it wasn’t enough in a loss to the Chargers (8-6) in the final day of the Meijer Holiday Classic at Bowling Green.

Amari Wales led the team with 10 points. Also scoring were Darrion Wimsatt (8), Jaiden Greathouse (7), Gavin Wimsatt (6), Matt Brown (6), Tyren Hayden (5), Isaac Humphrey (4), Tucker Hagan (3), Javonte McHenry (3) and Kamren Watkins (2).

Owensboro will travel to Owensboro Catholic for a 9th District game at 7 p.m. Friday.

McLean County 72, Trinity 57
The Raiders (7-4) were slightly outscored in each quarter, falling to the Cougars (4-7) at home despite getting scoring from 10 players.

Trenton Morris finished with a team-high 18 points, while Landon Hall and Ethan Howard added 8 each. Also scoring were Joe Brown (6), Devin Rhinerson (6), Denver Dickens (3), Kevin Foster (3), Bailey Wright (2), Sam Russelburg (2) and Brendan Wathen (1).

Trinity travels to Edmonson County for a 12th District matchup at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

GIRLS
Trinity 47, Warren Central 40
The Lady Raiders (6-4) jumped out to an early lead and held on for a road win over the Lady Dragons (0-12).

Only four players scored for Trinity, and Cassidy Morris led with a game-high 16 points. Nina Wathen added 14, Morgan Kinsey had 10, and Josie Aull scored 7.

The Lady Raiders travel to Edmonson County for a 12th District matchup at 6 p.m. Friday.

Meade County 52, Apollo 46
The E-Gals (8-7) made a late push but ran out of time, falling to the Lady Waves (3-10) in the final round of the FNB Holiday Bash at South Warren.

Zoe Floyd led the team with 17 points and 10 rebounds, going 7-of-9 at the line. Kassidy Daugherty scored 12 points and went 7-for-8 from the line, and she grabbed 7 boards.

Also scoring were Shelbie Beatty (11), Lexi Shadowen (4) and Brylee Rhodes (2).

Apollo will play again at 5:30 p.m. Friday when they host Daviess County in a 9th District game.

Simon Kenton 61, Owensboro Catholic 38
The Lady Aces (8-5) dropped a second consecutive game for the first time this season, falling to the Lady Pioneers (7-6) in the final day of the LaRosa’s Holiday Classic at Conner.

Hannah McKay scored 16 points and have 5 rebounds, and she was named to the All-Tournament team after the game.

Also scoring for Catholic were Isabella Henning (9), Sarah Beth Clemens (7), Spencer Harvey (5) and Mackenzie Keelin (1).

The Lady Aces return to action at 5:30 p.m. Friday when they host Owensboro for a 9th District game.

Madisonville-North Hopkins 57, Daviess County 27
The Lady Panthers (1-12) hung close through halftime, but the Lady Maroons (10-3) pulled away in the third quarter for a win in the final round of the Lady Storm United Mine Workers of America Classic at Hopkins County Central.

Kailey Bowers led with 10 points, while Claire Johnson and Jersey Vanover each had 6. Ella Payne added 3, and Brooklyn Daugherty had 2.

Daviess County will travel to Apollo for a 9th District game at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
