“Yesterday in Sports” brings you the highlights from sports in Owensboro and Daviess County.

The Trinity boys’ and girls’ basketball teams were both victorious in a 12th District doubleheader at home Friday night.

The Raiders (3-1, 1-0) beat Butler County 54-44, while the Lady Raiders (4-1, 1-0) picked up a third consecutive win by taking down the Lady Bears 60-51.

BOYS
Three players finished in double figures as Trinity was able to pull away from Butler County late. After a somewhat slow start, Trinity added to a 17-13 halftime lead in each of the final two quarters.

Trenton Morris finished with 12 points, all in the second half, to lead the Raiders. Ethan Howard added 11 points, and Landon Hall scored 10.

Other scorers for the Raiders were Joe Brown (8 points), Cameron Wright (5 points), Brendan Wathen (5 points) and Ben Goetz (3 points).

Trinity will now turn attention to a home game against Daviess County on Monday at 7:30 p.m.

GIRLS
The Lady Raiders only scored three points in the second quarter, but a strong second half helped them overcome a 20-17 halftime deficit. Cassidy Morris and Morgan Kinsey each recorded a double-double in the win.

Kinsey (10 rebounds) and Josie Aull each scored eight in the final period to help pull away for the win. Aull and Morris (12 rebounds) tied for a team-high 17 points, while Nina Wathen added 13.

Kinsey finished with 10 points, and Hadley Hatfield (2) and Katherine Hibbitt (1) rounded out the scoring.

Trinity returns to action Tuesday when they host Breckinridge County at 6 p.m.
