Wrestling: AHS wins as Mattingly now 44-0; DCHS goes 4-1

Apollo
Apollo took first place in the 24-team Fort Knox Invitational, their last tournament of the regular season. Preston Mattingly (120) finished first and remained undefeated at 44-0.

Joseph Morgan (113), Samuel Ramirez (126) and Jake Insko (138) were also first-place finishers. Jack Fuller (170) finished third and David Gerkin (132) placed fourth.


Daviess County
Daviess County went 4-1 at the Danville Duals on Saturday. They beat Danville 42-36, avenging a 36-33 loss earlier in the year. They also won 54-30 against Scott County, who beat Daviess County 45-36 in Week 2. Daviess County also beat Bullitt Central 48-30 and Grant County 36-35 before narrowly losing to Whitley County 40-36.

Freshman Conner Tolson and junior Brayden Davis went 5-0, while juniors Landen Boone and Skyler Walker as well as sophomore Say Moe all went 4-1 on the day to lead the way for DC.

Next up for Daviess County will be the DC Duals hosted by the Panthers on Saturday. Teams participating will be Ohio County, Whitesville Trinity, Wayne County, Bullitt Central, Calloway County, Trigg County, Paducah Tilghman, Bardstown, Henderson County and Western. Western is coach by Daviess County graduate Sam Roberts. Competition starts at 9:30 a.m. each team will wrestle five duals.
