KWC bowling competes with Top 25 teams

The Kentucky Wesleyan College bowling team got to compete with some of the best schools in the country over the weekend in the 2019 Mid Winter Classic hosted by Arkansas State University.

The Panthers finished 17th overall in a field that included seven of the top 10 and 12 of the top 25 teams in the country, with wins over No. 2 University of Nebraska and No. 15 Lincoln Memorial University. They also hung close with No. 6 Tulane University, losing by only 31 pins.

Overall, Kentucky Wesleyan went 5-8 on the weekend as a team, and four individuals placed in the top 39. Alyssa Zombirt had the best finish, placing 31st with 941 pins. She was followed closely by Angelique McKeny (34th, 936), Erika Sisk (38th, 925) and Kayla Payne (39th, 924).

The team will be back in action this weekend at the Kegel/Isbpa Midwest Collegiate Classic, a USBC Tier 1 tournament in Addison, Ill.
