Local archery teams finish among top in nation

A pair of local archery teams are bringing a national championship back home, while two more finished as runners-up in their divisions in this week’s competition.

The 4th S3DA National Indoor Championship was held Thursday and Friday in Cincinnati, Ohio, in conjunction with National Field Archery Association’s National Indoor Nationals.

Owensboro Archery Club earned a first-place finish in the high school club division and added a second-place finish in the elementary club division. The high school team earned 747 points while the elementary team earned 738, both out of a possible 750.

The Daviess County Middle School won the championship in the middle school team division. The DCHS team took second place among high school teams, missing out on the top spot by just two points.

Archery teams will now turn their attention toward outdoor season which begins later this month.
