The Owensboro baseball team fought back from a deficit three times before Tucker Hagan smacked a walk-off RBI double to lift the Red Devils to an 8-7 win over Floyd Central in eight innings at home Saturday.

Eric Epperson drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch before Braxton French — who homered on his first at bat — hit a sacrifice bunt to push the runner to third base. Hagan then drove Epperson in for the game winner.

The Red Devils (12-8) had five errors and were outhit 13-9 by Floyd Central, but timely hitting helped Owensboro come out with the victory.

Brennon Williams also homered for OHS, using a two-run shot to right field to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh after Floyd Central scored two in the top of the frame.

Owensboro went in front early, using the long ball by French and a two-RBI double by Isaac Humphrey to take a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Floyd Central came back with four runs in the second and didn’t trail again until the final score.

The Red Devils tied the game 4-4 in the second when Jack Lashbrook scored on a wild pitch. Back down by one in the sixth, Epperson doubled to drive in Kobe Coomes.

French got the win on the mound, throwing the final 1.2 innings and striking out two. Humphrey was the only Red Devil to record two hits. He and Williams had two RBIs.
