• Lady Aces go 2-1 in Best of West tournament
• Lady Devils finish 0-3 in home tournament
LADY ACES GO 2-1 IN BEST OF WEST TOURNAMENT
Owensboro Catholic (4-4) finished with a pair of wins and one loss in the Best of the West tournament at Owensboro.
The Lady Aces easily beat Todd County Central 3-0 (25-6, 25-16, 25-2) while edging past Paducah Tilghman 3-2 (25-23, 27-25, 19-25, 26-27, 15-11). Catholic lost to Bowling Green 3-2 (25-21, 25-20, 24-26, 19-25, 15-7).
Leading the effort was Cecilia Clemens with 95 assists, 16 kills, six digs and six aces. Other main contributors were Cassidy Towery (35 kills, 3 aces), Isabelle Wright (23 kills, 8 digs, 4 blocks), Madeline Castlen (13 kills, 8 blocks, 3 aces), Cate Sites (13 kills, 3 aces) and Allie Hamilton (9 kills, 9 assists).
The Lady Aces open 9th District play Tuesday at home against Apollo.
LADY DEVILS FINISH 0-3 IN HOME TOURNAMENT
Owensboro (3-6) faced stiff competition and dropped all three matches as host of the Best of the West tournament. The Lady Devils lost to Graves County 3-1 (25-14, 25-9, 25-16), to Bowling Green 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-17) and to Henderson County (25-14, 25-18, 23-25, 25-12).
OHS was led by Lainey Hayden (18 kills, 8 digs, 7 blocks), Krystell Pappas (19 digs, 11 aces, 7 kills, 7 assists), Jersie Rhineburger (33 digs, 6 aces) and Mykael Winstead (22 digs, 11 kills).
Also contributing were Armanda Pappas (16 digs, 9 kills, 6 assists), Chase Mather (17 digs), Mia Covington (9 digs, 8 kills), Brooklyn Williams (6 digs, 5 kills) and Hannah Ashley (9 digs).
Owensboro will begin 9th District play Tuesday when they host Daviess County.
