BOYS
ACES PULL AWAY LATE FOR VICTORY
Owensboro Catholic (4-2) maintained a slight edge through three quarters before pulling away for a 55-41 victory over Todd County Central in the Hebrews 12 Coffee Christmas Classic at Butler County.

Ji Webb led the Aces with 23 points, scoring nine of the team’s 21 in the fourth quarter. Also contributing were Brian Griffith (10), Luke Scales (8), Sam McFarland (6), Drew Hartz (6) and Braden Mundy (2).


OHS FALLS TO TOP-RANKED JEFFERSONTOWN
The Red Devils (5-2) stayed close through the first quarter, but Jeffersontown — ranked No. 1 in the state based on RPI — used a dominant second period to run away with a 64-34 victory in the Century Mortgage Derby City Jam at Fern Creek.

The Chargers outscored OHS 20-2 in the second quarter, and the Red Devils couldn’t recover. Isaac Humphrey led the scoring for Owensboro with 14 points. Also scoring were Amari Wales (10), Tyren Hayden (4), Matt Brown (2), Kenyata Carbon (2), Jaiden Greathouse (1) and Gavin Wimsatt (1).


EARLY DEFICIT TOO MUCH FOR DC IN LOSS
Daviess County (4-5) fell behind early and was unable to bounce back in a 72-54 loss to Nelson County in the Fuller Physical Therapy Holiday Classic at Webster County. The Panthers trailed by six after the first quarter and by 17 at the half.

Cole Burch led DC with 13 points and Hunter Gibson added 11. Also scoring were Will Barron (9), Ian Bivens (6), Bo Stratton (6), Camron Johnson (6) and Ryan Thomson (3).


RAIDERS DROP FIRST GAME IN HOME TOURNEY
Trinity (3-5) couldn’t keep up with Western’s high-powered offense, and the Raiders fell 81-45 in their first game as host of the Dental Designs of Owensboro Christmas Classic. Trinity only trailed 13-10 after the first quarter, bu Western took a 44-19 lead into halftime.

Ethan Howard led the Raiders with 14 points. Also pitching in were Kevin Foster (9), Landon Hall (7), Brenden Wathen (6), Bailey Wright (4), Landon Huff (2), Will Edge (2) and Gavin Howard (1).



GIRLS
LADY ACES BLOW PAST FERN CREEK
Owensboro Catholic (6-1) had no trouble earning their fifth win in a row, cruising to a 75-16 victory over Fern Creek in the Queen of the Commonwealth tournament at Bullitt East. The Lady Aces jumped out to a 22-1 lead after the first quarter and continued to dominate the rest of the way.

Hannah McKay led the effort with 26 points and Spencer Harvey added 17. Also contributing were Camille Conkright (9), Kinsley Goetz (7), Madeline Hayden (5), Ally Maggard (4), Caroline Reid (3), Katie Riney (2) and Tierney Johnson (2).


LADY PANTHERS HOLD ON FOR 6TH STRAIGHT WIN
Daviess County (6-1) jumped out to an early advantage and had just enough to hang on for a 62-59 victory over Hopkins County Central in the Dairy Queen/Danny Annis Classic at Ohio County.

Brooklyn Daugherty scored a game-high 21 points and hit four 3-pointers. Katie Mewes added 17 points and Adylan Ayer had 15. Shea Mason, Ella Payne and CJ Paige scored three points each.


TRINITY ROLLS PAST WESTERN IN HOME TOURNEY
The Lady Raiders (5-4) won their third game in a row by rolling past Western 60-31 in Trinity’s Dental Designs of Owensboro Christmas Classic. The Lady Raiders won all three games of their home tournament.

Morgan Kinsey scored a game-high 18 points, while Josie Aull added 17 and hit all five of Trinity’s 3-pointers. Also scoring were Cassidy Morris (13), Allie Graham (5), Katherine Hibbitt (4) and Hadley Hatfield (3).


NORTHEAST EDGES BY E-GALS IN OVERTIME
Apollo (4-3) led in the final minute, but Northeast (Tenn.) hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to overtime tied a 53-all. The E-Gals eventually fell 63-58 in their opening game of the Russellville Food Bank Classic. Full stats were not available.


LADY DEVILS FALL IN ROAD GAME
Owensboro (2-6) lost 58-36 on the road at Hopkinsville, dropping their fifth game in a row. Full stats were not available.
