CATHOLIC ROLLS PAST DC IN TOURNEY
Owensboro Catholic dominated the second and third quarters, allowing the Aces to open a big lead en route to a 67-46 win over Daviess County in the Roy’s Bar-B-Que/1st Southern National Bank Classic at Logan County.
The Aces only led by three points after the first quarter, but they outscored the Panthers 23-12 in the second period. Catholic then won the third quarter 13-2 to really put the game away.
Catholic’s Brian Griffith scored 10 of his game-high 17 points in the first half, while Drew Hartz scored 10 of his 15 total in the second half. Also scoring for the Aces were Ji Webb (10), Gray Weaver (9), Luke Scales (5), Andrew Riney (4), Everett Munsey (3), Sam McFarland (3) and Braden Mundy (1).
Camron Johnson finished with 10 points to lead the Panthers’ scoring effort. Also contributing were Cole Burch (9), Ryan Thomson (7), Hunter Gibson (6), Koki Kato (4), Ian Bivens (3), Bo Stratton (2), Isaiah Tomes (2), Joe Humphreys (2) and Will Barron (1).
GIRLS
LADY ACES TAKE 3RD IN HOLIDAY BASH
Owensboro Catholic (9-5) pulled away early in a 48-35 win over tournament host South Warren, and the Lady Aces finished third in the FNB Holiday Bash. The Lady Aces jumped out to a 15-8 lead after the first quarter, carried a 10-point lead into the half and stretched the advantage to 19 going into the final period.
Hannah McKay led all scorers with 17 points and also tied for a game-high six rebounds. Ally Maggard also had six rebounds to go along with four points. Spencer Harvey added four points and dished out seven assists, while Catherine Head had five points and four steals.
Also scoring were Isabella Henning (9), Camille Conkright (5), Caroline Reid (2) and Kinsley Goetz (2).
