E-GALS PULL AWAY IN SECOND HALF
Though it was a tight battle early, Apollo (7-3) used a strong second half to earn a 50-36 victory over Ohio County at home. The E-Gals jumped ahead early but their lead was cut to four points after the first quarter, and they were only up 23-22 at the half.
Kassidy Daugherty led Apollo with 18 points and Zoe Floyd added 12, and the duo combined to hit 15 free throws. Also contributing were Shelbie Beatty (6), Amaya Curry (5), Amber Dunn (4), Addison Carter (3) and Brylee Rhodes (2).
LADY RAIDERS WIN 4TH STRAIGHT
Cassidy Morris poured in 29 points to help Trinity (6-4) edge past Warren Central for a 55-52 home victory, pushing the Lady Raiders’ win streak to four games. Trinity took a 15-6 lead after the first quarter, but they had to hold off a steady comeback attempt by Warren Central.
Morris went 11-for-15 at the free throw line to help finish as the game’s leading scorer. Also contributing for the Lady Raiders were Morgan Kinsey (10), Josie Aull (9), Katherine Hibbitt (5) and Hadley Hatfield (2).
LADY ACES STRUGGLE AGAINST BARDSTOWN
Owensboro Catholic (8-5) wasn’t able to keep up with Bardstown, who pulled away for a 74-47 victory in the FNB Holiday Bash at South Warren. The Lady Aces were only down four after the first period, but they were outscored by 22 points combined in the second and fourth quarters.
Hannah McKay led Catholic with 18 points and seven rebounds. Also scoring were Caroline Reid (7), Isabella Henning (7), Katie Riney (6) Spencer Harvey (3), Camille Conkright (2), Ally Maggard (2) and Madeline Hayden (2).
OHS FALLS BEHIND EARLY IN LOSS
Owensboro (3-8) fell into a big deficit in the first half, and they never recovered in a 73-49 loss to Grant County in the Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic.
Tamia Smith led the Lady Devils with 12 points, while A’Lyrica Hughes and Chandler Worth added 10 each. Also scoring were Nia Gonzo (8), Krystell Pappas (5), Lyndsey Gibson (3) and Brooklyn Williams (1).
DC DROPS TWO IN TOURNAMENT
Daviess County (6-5) struggled early and suffered a 45-39 loss to Boyle County in the Banker Hardwood Classic at Russell County. The Lady Panthers also lost Friday night, falling 56-51 in overtime to Monroe County.
Against Boyle County, Brooklyn Daugherty and Adylan Ayer led DC with 13 points each. Also scoring were Katie Mewes (9), Druree Glenn (2), Ella Payne (1) and CJ Paige (1).
Against Monroe County, Daugherty led the Lady Panthers with 14 points and Ayer added 12. Others contributing were Shea Mason (8), Payne (7), Mewes (5), Paige (3) and Glenn (2).
