GIRLS
DUNN’S DOUBLE-DOUBLE LIFTS E-GALS TO WIN
Apollo had to withstand a 3-point barrage by Breckinridge County, but the E-Gals had just enough to claim a 73-68 victory at home. The Lady Tigers hit 12 3-pointers, including five in the second quarter and four the fourth.
Apollo (9-4) trailed 20-16 after the first period, but they took a 39-35 lead by halftime and stretched it to 10 points by the end of the third.
Amber Dunn led the cause for Apollo with 17 points and 13 rebounds, adding fives assists and a pair of steals. Kassidy Daugherty added 15 points and six assists, while Zoe Floyd had 12 points and seven rebounds. Amaya Curry and Amari Sanders each scored 10 points. Addison Carter (6) and Shelbie Beatty (3) rounded out the scoring.
BOYS
RED DEVILS EDGED BY OHIO COUNTY
Owensboro (9-7) took a 10-point lead into halftime, but Ohio County stormed back in the third quarter and held on late for a 69-64 home win. The Eagles scored 25 points in the third period to go up by three heading into the fourth, and it was tight the rest of the way.
Jaiden Greathouse led Owensboro with 19 points, including eight of the 22 scored by OHS in the second quarter. Also scoring were Kenyata Carbon (9), Matt Brown (8), Tucker Hagan (7), Amari Wales (7), Reis Dickinson (6), Gavin Wimsatt (4) and Isaac Humphrey (4).
PANTHERS FALL AT HOME TO LOGAN COUNTY
Daviess County (5-9) fought hard through halftime, but they couldn’t keep up down the stretch in a 72-47 home loss to Logan County. After a big deficit early the Panthers got within three points late in the second quarter, though Logan County stretched the lead to 11 by the end of the third quarter.
Camron Johnson led the offense for DC with 11 points. Also contributing were Hunter Gibson (9), Ryan Thomson (6), Will Barron (5), Bo Stratton (5), Joe Humphreys (4), Koki Kato (3), Ian Bivens (2) and Isaiah Tomes (2).
EAGLES SUFFER NARROW HOME LOSS
Apollo (1-13) didn’t quite have enough, falling 56-54 at home to Meade County. The Eagles went 7-of-19 from 3-point range, but shot only 12-of-29 inside the arc.
Harrison Bowman scored a team-high 12 points and Ryan Ash added 11, while Landon Hamilton finished with 10 rebounds. Also scoring were Malik Wilson (9), Adam Fitzgerald (9), Jaden Kelly (5), Beau Barker (3), Dan St. Claire (2), Cameron Frantz (2) and Hamilton (1).
