Raiders earn narrow semifinal win; Lady Raiders fall short

Landon Hall led a dominant third-quarter effort that helped send the Trinity boys to the championship game, while a huge day from Cassidy Morris wasn’t enough as the Lady Raiders lost a close battle in the 3rd Region All “A” Classic semifinals.

The Raiders will take on Owensboro Catholic for the boys’ title at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, with the game played at Edmonson County.

BOYS – Trinity 58, Hancock County 52
The Raiders (6-8) trailed by 11 at the half, but Hall scored nine of the team’s 27 points in the third quarter as Trinity took control and held on for the win. Hall finished with 20 total points, scoring 14 in the second half.

Kevin Foster knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points to help the Raiders’ offense. Brenden Wathen chipped in seven points, while Will Edge and Denver Dickens each added six points in the second half. Landon Huff, Elijah Boarman and Ethan Howard each had two points, and Nick Goetz had one.

GIRLS – Hancock County 55, Trinity 45
Cassidy Morris poured in 30 points and the Lady Raiders (7-5) battled for three quarters, but Hancock County (5-8) pulled away late to secure the victory.

Hancock County held a 9-5 advantage after the first quarter, but Morris scored 13 points in the second to give Trinity a 22-21 lead at the half. Morris scored nine more in the third, and the game was knotted at 36-all heading into the fourth.

The rest of Trinity’s scoring came from Josie Aull (9), Hadley Hatfield (2), Allie Graham (2) and Katherine Hibbitt (2).
