TUESDAY’S ACTION:
• Castle uses strong 3rd quarter to top Aces
• Eagles limit Maroons but come up short
• Lady Panthers fall to Union County


CASTLE USES STRONG 3RD QUARTER TO TOP ACES
Owensboro Catholic (17-12) held a halftime lead, but Castle (Ind.) used a strong third quarter to go in front and hold on for a 79-75 win at OCHS. Up 38-35 at the half, the Aces were outscored 24-11 in the third and their comeback bid in the fourth came up short.

Brian Griffith led Catholic with 24 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter. Drew Hartz scored 10 of his 15 points in the second period. Also scoring were Gray Weaver (12), Ji Webb (10), Andrew Riney (7), Luke Scales (5) and Sam McFarland (2).


EAGLES LIMIT MAROONS BUT COME UP SHORT
Apollo (5-23) was able to slow down Madisonville-North Hopkins’ high-powered offense, but the Eagles still didn’t have enough in a 58-42 loss on the road. The Maroons have only scored less than 58 twice this season (55, 56) and are currently on a 14-game win streak.

Dan St. Claire led Apollo with 13 points and added six rebounds. Also scoring were Harrison Bowman (8), Cameron Frantz (7), Ryan Ash (5), Malik Wilson (4), Jamen Kinison (3) and Landon Hamilton (2).


LADY PANTHERS FALL TO UNION COUNTY
Daviess County fell behind in the second quarter and was never able to recover in a 56-48 home loss to Union County. The Lady Panthers led 11-10 after the first period but fell behind 34-24 by halftime, and the Bravettes pushed their lead to 15 heading into the final frame.

Adylan Ayer paced DC with 15 points, Katie Mewes scored eight and Brooklyn Daugherty scored seven. Also contributing were Druree Glenn (4), Kaylee Blandford (3), Emma Anderson (3), Maddie Cecil (3), Madison Spurrier (2), Lily Hoagland (2) and Shea Mason (1).
