Local cheer and dance teams showed off their skills Monday night at Owensboro High School during a sendoff ahead of this weekend’s national competition.

High school cheer teams from Daviess County, Owensboro, Apollo, Union County and Muhlenberg County, plus the Burns Middle School squad, performed routines in a variety of divisions.
Teams will begin competition Friday in the National High School Cheerleading Championship held at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The event will continue Saturday and Sunday.
