The Trinity boys’ and girls’ basketball teams both came up short against Grayson County on Friday in the final night of 12th District action.
The Raiders (9-19, 1-5 district) were edged 61-59, while the Lady Raiders (11-15, 0-6) struggled in the second half of an 85-55 loss. Both teams will be the No. 4 seed in their district tournaments.
In the girls’ game, the Lady Raiders held a 17-15 lead after the first quarter and were tied 38-all at the half. Grayson County outscored Trinity 24-9 in the third quarter and kept adding to the lead in the fourth.
Josie Aull led Trinity with 22 points and Katherine Hibbitt added 12. Other scoring came from Hadley Hatfield (7), Kenzie McDowell (6), Cassidy Morris (5) and Allie Graham (3). Morris left in the first quarter due to an injury and did not return.
In the boys’ game, the Raiders worked their way to a 28-25 lead at the half. They were outscored 18-9 in the third period and came up just short in their comeback attempt.
Landon Hall led Trinity with 14 points, while Kevin Foster and Landon Huff each added 12. Ethan Howard scored 10, Denver Dickens finished with nine and Cade Mills added two.
