A sweltering afternoon turned into a nice evening at Ben Hawes Golf Club as area girls’ golf teams hit the links for the first of several Tuesday matches among the squads.
Apollo’s Macey Brown continued her hot play to start the season as she fired a 39 to take medalist honors, despite not finishing how she would have hoped. Mary Ann Lyons chipped in a 54 for the E-gals with Addison Carter finishing with a 71.
Daviess County was led by Holly Holton and Emilee Clark, as each shot a 46, while Addison Heady was right behind them with a 48. Hadleigh Hunter closed out the scoring for the Lady Panthers. Anna Lane’s 58 was just out of reach for the team score with several solid rounds from the squad.
Seventh-grader Alexa Salamah paced the Owensboro Lady Red Devils with a 52 while Phoenix Barnett (60), Ellie Watson (66) and Kaylei Moore (70) also scored for OHS.
Owensboro Catholic’s Conleigh Osborne led the Lady Aces with a 54 while RC Porter finished with a 56. Lainey Ann Osborne (67) and Olivia McPherson (74) also competed for OCHS.
All four local teams will hit the course again Friday for the inaugural DC Lady Panther Golf Invitational at Windridge Country Club.
