With sports fans around the state buzzing since Thursday’s KHSAA Board of Control decision, Gov. Andy Beshear addressed that move during his daily press conference Monday.

“We’re not going to overturn that decision,” said Beshear, one of the few entities that could put a hold on sports in the Commonwealth this fall.

Beshear’s announcement comes as practices for football, soccer, volleyball and cross country started Monday around the state.

Despite going on as scheduled, Beshear said there will still be some challenges. He said he didn’t think the governor’s office should make the decision to end fall sports alone.

He also said it is imperative that everyone involved is transparent and everyone must work together to ensure the safety of student-athletes.
