Daviess County earns top-five finish in both races at Louisville Trinity

The Daviess County Panthers and Lady Panthers each finished in the top five of their respective races Saturday at the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational in Louisville where runners from four states were represented.

On the girls’ side, DC finished third with 91 points as Oldham County won the event with 71 points.

Emily Ann Roberts led the way as she finished eighth with a time of 19:03.2. Emily Rempe (11th), Ainsley Taylor (25th), Elli Crabtree (35th), Avery Heath (49th), Micah Sager (57th) and Kayley Payne (59th) all contributed to the Lady Panthers’ score.

For the Panthers boys’ squad, they finished fourth with 117 points while St. Xavier cruised to victory with 35 points.

Brady Terry led the Panthers in seventh place as he finished in 15:54.8. Alex Adams (14th), Nolan Kurz (30th), Justin Shelton (31st), Logan Gish (35th), Bryson McGary (42nd), Jacob Kirk (43rd) all earned points.

AHS, OHS, OCHS hit course at Muhlenberg County

Owensboro’s Nathanael Turner and Apollo’s Nicholas Szemethy finished first and second respectively Saturday at the Mustang Stampede in Muhlenberg County, while the Apollo E-gals finished second on the girls’ side.

Turner finished with a time of 8:12.39 and Szemethy came in with a time of 8:13.31. Red Devil Adrian Askin finished third at 8:19.09.

Owensboro Catholic was led by Luke Payne (17th) and Joe Fusco (18th).

On the girls’ side, Apollo had two runners finish in the top five as Ahmira Pickett (4th) and Abby Rumage (5th) led local runners. Pickett finished with a time of 10:41.59 while Rumage was right behind her at 10:44.61.

Owensboro was led by Kayla Davison (34th), while Owensboro Catholic was led by Katherine Caudill (50th).
