Daviess County dominates in Bardstown

The Daviess County cross country program continued to establish its dominance as a premier program in the state as they took the boy’s and girl’s titles Saturday at the Hillbilly Run in Bardstown.

The Lady Panthers finished with 25 points to edge Sacred Heart and its 36 points. DC had five of the top 10 runners in the girls’ race.

Sacred Heart’s Josie Gilvin won the race but she was followed by a trio of Lady Panthers. Emily Ann Roberts (2nd), Emily Rempe (3rd) and Elli Crabtree (4rd) helped lead DC as Ainsley Taylor (7th) and Kayley Payne (9th) also had top-10 finishes.

Trinity’s Natalie Rhinderson finished 28th in the Division 2 varsity race as Sienca Valdez finished 35th.

On the boys’ side, the Panthers took the top spot by three points as they grabbed 55 to Louisville Trinity’s 58.

Brady Terry finished third overall while Alex Adams finished seventh. Justin Shelton (13), Logan Gish (15), Noal Kurz (17) and Parker Leachman (20) all finished in the top 20.

Trinity’s Jacob Howard finished 18th in the Division 2 varsity race.

Owensboro hits the course at Tell City

The Owensboro Red Devils and Lady Devils went north Saturday as both competed at the Lincoln Trail Invitational in Tell City.

On the boys’ side, Nathanael Turner finished 18th with a time of 17:33.70 while teammate Adrian Askin finished right behind him in 19th.

Ashley Colburn led the Lady Devils as she finished in 33rd with a time of 23:35.3.
