Catholic’s Wellman leads locals at All-State Championships
Owensboro Catholic’s Jakob Wellman was the lone local individual competitor, while Daviess County sent its team to the All-State Championships at the University Club of Kentucky this weekend.
Wellman finished at 73-80 (10-over) for the event as Cooper’s Rylan Wotherspoon won the tournament at 3-under. Fellow 2nd Region golfer Jackson Hill (Madisonville-North Hopkins) finished three shots back at even.
For the Panthers, Nick Johnson led the squad as he finished at 82-76 (15-over). Grant Broughton 85-78 (17-over), Braden Whistle 85-78 (20-over) and Gabe Vincent 85-87 (29-over) contributed DC’s team score.
Apollo’s Brown, DC’s Clark conclude All-State Championships
Apollo’s Macey Brown and Daviess County’s Emilee Clark were the lone local female golfers at this weekend’s All-State Championships, as both gained valuable experience with the region tournament only a week away.
Brown finished 81-84 (21-over) for the tournament as Bullitt East’s Macie Brown won the event with a 72-70 (2-under).
Clark finished 96-98 (50-over), just behind Madisonville-North Hopkins’ Stella Knight.
