Two local schools earned spots in the first edition of the Kentucky AP Prep Football Poll when it was released Monday.
In Class 5A, the Owensboro Red Devils earned the No. 5 spot after taking down Class 6A Apollo 50-13 on Friday night. Covington Catholic was picked as the top team as Bowling Green (2), South Warren (3) and Frederick Douglass (4) made up the rest of the top five.
In Class 2A, Owensboro Catholic earned enough points to fill the No. 7 slot after its opening win over Mt. Vernon (Ind.). Somerset is the top team in 2A.
