Apollo takes down Ohio County, Graves County

The Apollo E-gals extended their winning streak to seven matches Saturday after they beat Ohio County and Graves County at AHS.

Apollo beat Ohio County 3-1 (25-12, 21-25, 25-22, 25-14) and swept Graves County 3-0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-13).

Havanah John continued her strong play this season as she had 25 kills on the day. Brylee Rhodes (20 kills, 3 blocks, 6 aces), Tallie Satterfield (12 kills, 4 blocks), Aliyah Carwile (7 kills), Anslee Hopewell (30 digs, 5 aces, 3 kills), Allie Hargitt (39 assists), Maddie Boswell (21 assists)l Abby Spong (15 digs) and Camryn Kerwick (9 digs, 5 aces) all contributed to the E-gals win.

AHS plays at home Tuesday against Owensboro before they head to the Quad State Tournament at McCracken County next weekend.

Owensboro beats Graves County, falls to Henderson

The Owensboro Lady Devils split their Saturday matches but with their morning win, they snapped a losing skid after their 5-0 start to the season.

OHS took down Graves County 3-1 (16-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-18) but were swept by the Lady Colonels 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-21) in their second match of the day.

Against Graves, Mia Covington (12) and Brooklyn Williams (11) each finished with double-digit kills as Krystell Pappas (20) and Kennedy Thompson (13) led the way in assists. Five Lady Devils had double-digit digs with Jersie Rhineburger leading the team with 18.

In the loss to Henderson, Hayden led with four kills while Pappas finished with 14 digs.

OHS plays Monday at home against Graves County.

Lady Aces fall to Henderson County

The Owensboro Lady Aces dropped their third match in a row Saturday as they fell to Henderson County on the road.

The Lady Cols won the match 3-1 (17-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-21).

Madeline Castlen led Catholic with nine kills while Cate Sights added seven. The duo also finished with three blocks each. Lilly Farmer added 10 assists while Jenna Glenn (21) and Emily Christian (18) led the way in digs.

The Lady Aces play Tuesday at home against Daviess County.

Trinity sweeps McLean County on the road

After losing back-to-back matches, the Trinity Lady Raiders have rebounded with back-to-back wins after taking down McLean County Saturday in Calhoun.

THS didn’t need much time for the victory as they swept the Lady Cougars 3-0 (25-21, 25-8, 25-18).

The Lady Raiders will take on Clinton County in the first round All “A” Classic State Tournament Monday at home. The winner advances to Eastern Kentucky University Oct. 10.
