Mother Nature grabbed a win Monday night at Shifley Park as continuous lightning forced Owensboro administrators to delay the start of the 3rd Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament.

With Owensboro Catholic advancing by forfeit because McLean County had to bow out due to COVID-19 protocol, Daviess County and Grayson County were set to take the field at 6 p.m. but the weather had other plans.

Every lightning strike delayed the start by 30 minutes until OHS Athletic Director Todd Harper had to make the difficult decision.

Daviess/Grayson will now hit the pitch at 6 p.m. tonight with the semifinals being pushed to Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The final is still scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
