Apollo looking for first district win against Henderson County

The Apollo Eagles sit at 1-2 heading into the fifth week of the season as they’re fresh off a bye week ahead of their matchup with Henderson County tonight at AHS.

Apollo fell 45-21 to McCracken County in its first district game but the Colonels haven’t played since Sept. 18, as COVID canceled a matchup two weeks ago against Madisonville-North Hopkins and then they had their scheduled bye week.

Henderson County fell in the opener to Hopkinsville but beat Central Hardin 47-19 in week two to sit at 1-1 going into today.

Ben Dalton is 11-of-28 for 184 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions, but he’s has done more damage with his legs as he’s ran for 197 yards and a score. Jaheim Williams has also hit the century mark in rushing as he’s got 182 yards on just 10 carries with four touchdowns.

Apollo sits at 1-2 on the year but have four of their final five games at home.

Damian Lovinsky has had a strong year at quarterback for the Eagles as he’s thrown for 366 yards and two scores while also running for 220 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Harold Patterson is averaging 100 yards per game as he sits at 301 yards and a touchdown this year.

Ben Armour is the lone Eagle receiver over the century mark. Armour has nine catches for 121 yards and a touchdown this season for first-year coach John Edge.

Thomas Ferguson (26), Cameron Baker (26) and Jarrod Gray (20) have led Apollo on defense this season and the Eagles have also forced six turnovers.

Gray and Kyler Rutter have each pulled down two picks this season.

Apollo and Henderson County hit AHS at 7 p.m. as the Eagles look for their first win over the Colonels since the 2001 Class 4A State Playoffs.
