Daviess County cruises to victory at Fast Cats Classic

The Daviess County Panthers grabbed victories in both races Saturday as the annual Fast Cats Classic at Yellow Creek Park.

The event was divided into three races: Red Race, White Race and Blue Race.

On the girls’ side, Daviess County’s Emily Ann Roberts finished second with a time of 10:34.40 as McCracken County’s Maggie Aydt won the event. Aydt recently committed to Kentucky and won the race with a time fo 19:12.39.

DC’s Ainsley Taylor finished fourth while Emily Rempe (7th), Elli Crabtree (8th), Katelyn Ahart (10th), Avery Heath (11th) and Kayley Payne (15th) all had solid races for the Lady Panthers in the Red Race.

Owensboro’s Ashley Colburn finished in sixth with a time of 23:18.45 to lead the Lady Devils and locals in the White Race. Tasih Pettigrew finished seventh for OHS.

Ella Claire Goetz led the Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces with a time of 23:50.09.

In the girls’ Blue Race, Apollo finished second overall with 20 points as Ahmira Pickett led the E-gals with a second-place finish and a time of 22:16.56. Baylee Hare (4th), Abby Rumage (5th), Natalie Winfield (6th), Adyson Mattingly (8th) and Sarah Rice (10th) all had top-10 finishes for Apollo.

In the boys’ race, Apollo’s Thomas Ashby was the top local finisher with a time of 16:41.61 as he finished seventh overall. Jake Alvey finished second among Eagle runners with a time of 17:58.14.

Daviess County’s Justin Shelton took ninth with a time of 16:51.35 to lead the Panthers. Bryson McGary (12th) and Logan Gish (13th) also delivered top-15 finishes for DC.

Nathanael Turned led the Red Devils with a time of 17:23.47 in the White Race and finished third while Adrian Askin finished a spot behind him at 17:37.17. Luke Payne led the Aces with a time of 18:46.59.
