Owensboro routs Grayson County in Leitchfield
The Owensboro Red Devils continued their perfect season Friday as they cruised by district foe Grayson County on the road.
OHS controlled the game from start to finish as they handled the Cougars 41-0 to go 7-0 on the year.
Red Devil senior Gavin Wimsatt hurt Grayson through the air and with his legs in the victory as he went 15-of-26 for 228 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 58 yards and a score.
Taquan Robinson (48 rushing yards, touchdown) and Austin Gough (18 yards, touchdown) also had scores on the ground for the Red Devils.
Steven Stevenson led OHS in receiving with four catches for 84 yards while Ben Flaherty and Kendrick Williams had touchdown catches.
Jeremiah Goodwin also had a pick six in the victory.
The Red Devil defense held the Cougars to just 113 total yards and only six first downs on the night.
Owensboro’s game next week against Henderson County is canceled due to COVID so the Red Devils’ regular season will end next Friday at home as they host Breckinridge County at 7 p.m. inside Rash Stadium.
Owensboro Catholic snaps losing skid in win over Bears
The Owensboro Catholic Aces came into Friday night’s game against Butler County with back-to-back losses, the first time they had lost two games in a row since the first two contests of 2018 but coach Jason Morris and his squad weren’t ready to let that streak become three in a row.
The Aces cruised by Butler County on the road, grabbing a 41-0 victory for their 10th win over the Bears in the last 10 seasons.
Catholic’s offense gained momentum as the game went on as it was the second half where it shined despite a 14-0 lead at the break.
The Aces doubled their scoring in the third as they held a 28-0 leading going into the final frame where it was all over except for the final whistle.
Catholic improved to 5-2 in the season as they head to Apollo next week before taking on Daviess County at home in the Aces’ regular-season finale.
