Daviess County set for rematch with South Warren

The Daviess County Panthers continued their 2020 revenge tour Saturday when they took down McCracken County 1-0 in Paducah to advance to tonight’s Elite Eight game to take on South Warren in Bowling Green at Warren Central.

The Panthers have outscored their opponents 35-3 since postseason started back on Oct. 12 as they’ve scored 75 goals this season and allowed just 16.

Hunter Clark leads the team in goals with 20 and assists with 14 while Tanner Andersen (15 goals, 7 assists) and Declan Armistead (13 goals, 7 assists) have also helped lead the Panther offense but with several players with goals this season, goals can come from anywhere for DC.

The Spartans are 14-1-1 this season with their lone draw coming against the Panthers on Sept. 29 as the teams ended the match at 1-1.

Eldin Velic leads the team with 18 goals while Kiram Mujic has added 12 this season for South Warren. Anthony Cano leads the team with 12 assists.

Daviess County and South Warren hit the pitch at 7 p.m. at Warren Central.

Lady Aces looking for revenge against Greenwood

It’s been a tale of two seasons for the Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces as they started their season behind the eight ball when they went 0-2 and were outscored 18-3 in their first two games of the season against Indiana teams.

But since the start of the 9th District Tournament on Oct. 13, the Lady Aces have five shutouts and have outscored their opponents 11-1.

Tonight, Catholic will get the chance at revenge against another team that gave them a loss this season in the Greenwood Lady Gators as they hit the pitch at 7 p.m. in the Elite Eight.

Greenwood is 15-2-1 this season and winners of six-straight games since the Gatos fell to Sacred Heart on Oct. 10.

Kayelee Maners leads GHS in goals this season with 10 while Claire Allen has added eight for the Lady Gators. Sarah Wiles and Paige Hines led the team with six assists a piece.

Maddie Hayden continues to lead the Lady Aces in scoring as she has 17 to go with eight assists. Hayden has found the back of the net in the last two Catholic victories. Ashton Logsdon leads the team with 10 assists and also has 10 goals this season.

Owensboro Catholic and Greenwood meet at 7 p.m.
