Catholic snaps skid with win over Trinity

The Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces snapped a four-match losing streak Thursday when they went on the road and beat Trinity in a five-set thriller in Whitesville.

Catholic was down 2-1 before making a comeback and winning the match 3-2 (17-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-23, 15-13).

For the Aces, Cate Sights led the way with 16 kills and two blocks while Leann Lyon added 13 kills. Lilly Farmer finished with 25 assists with Kennedy Murphy finishing a few behind her with 20. Jenna Glenn (34 digs), Emily Christian (28 digs) and Delaney Flaherty (20 digs) had big defensive games in the win.

For the Lady Raiders, Hannah Nash (17 kills) and Georgia Howard (15 kills) had big offense days for THS as Josie had 35 assists in the loss. Taylor Pedley led the squad in digs with 39 while Abigail Payne (16), Bailey Millay (15) and Georgia Howard (13) also had double-digit digs.

Lady Panthers sweep Muhlenberg County, improve to 8-1

The Daviess County Lady Panthers continued their hot play this season as they cruised by Muhlenberg County for their seventh-straight win as they improve to 8-1 on the year.

The first set was the only one that gave the Lady Panthers trouble in the 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-10) victory.

Josie Newcom (12) and Adylan Ayder (10) each finished with double-digit kills for DC while Ryann Keller dished out 23 assists. Lexi Owen also had a solid night passing the ball as she had 11 assists. Kloee Phelps led the team in digs with 14 while Kendal Goetz added 10 digs and seven aces in the victory.

The Lady Panthers are off until Oct. 12 when they take on Breckinridge County on the road.
