Augenstein projected to make cut at Masters, finishes first 36 at -3

Despite a hiccup on No. 7, former Owensboro Catholic standout John Augenstein is currently in position to make the cut at his first Masters after shooting a 72 during Friday’s second round.

Augenstein was at it early Friday as he still had to finish his first round but as soon as he finished 18, it was back to 10 to start his second 18 holes at Augusta National.

The Vanderbilt Commodore currently sits at -3 and is in a tie for 27th with six other players, including Rory McIlroy.

The highlight of Augenstein’s day came during his first round when hsi had an eagle on the par-5 13th.

Augenstein got as high as a tie for 4th during Friday’s second round at he was 3-under before a bogey on the 5th lost him a shot. Then a triple bogey on No. 7 put Augenstein down to -2 before he birdied No. 8 to get back to -3.

A chunk of the field still has to finish their second round on Saturday morning before Augenstein will now what time he tees off today.
