Wesleyan women roll past Tiffin

The Kentucky Wesleyan College women’s basketball team picked up their third straight win on Thursday night, downing Tiffin University by a score of 61-48 at The Owensboro Sportscenter.

After trailing 7-0 less than three minutes in, the Panthers offense found their rhythm, using a 9-2 run to even the score at 9.  Shiya Hoosier scored five in the run while Lily Miller and Leah Richardson chipped in two apiece.

The Panthers pulled away with a 10-0 run, taking a 19-13 lead in the second quarter.  Wesleyan went on to take a 31-23 lead to the intermission.  Hoosier finished the first half with 9 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting.

Neither team made a three point basket in the third quarter, allowing Wesleyan to take a 6-point lead into the final frame.  The Panthers outscored the Dragons 18-11 in the final frame to seal their 37th consecutive victory at The Owensboro Sportscenter.

Hoosier finished with a career-high 18 points off the bench, including 2-3 from three point range.  The Hendersonville, Tenn. native also grabbed two rebounds and three steals in just under 20 minutes of play.

Miller recorded 12 points, six of which came from the charity stripe, while dishing out a pair of assists.  Tahlia Walton paced the Panthers with seven rebounds while Kaylee Clifford led the way with two blocks.
