Owensboro Catholic 71, Lyon County 47
Owensboro Catholic dominated Lyon County from start to finish Monday at the Sportscenter as the Aces handed the Lyons their first loss of the year.
Catholic led wire-to-wire in the 71-47 victory as they were led by five Aces in double figures.
Gray Weaver finished with a team-high 18 points while Brian Griffith (15 points), Sam McFarland (15 points), Ji Webb (11 points) and Parker Gray (10 points) all had solid games for the Aces.
Coach Tim Riley was most impressed with his team’s defense as they held Lyon County freshman Travis Perry to just 13 points. Perry was averaging 28.4 ppg coming into the match.
Catholic will try to continue their strong play Saturday as they take on Evansville Reitz.

Apollo 61, Greenwood 51
The Apollo E-gals won their third game in four days Monday at AHS as they took down 4th Region foe Greenwood on Senior Night.
The game was close throughout the Apollo grabbed extended its lead in the last few minutes and put the game away at the free-throw line as they grabbed a 61-51 victory over the Gators.
Seniors Kassidy Daugherty and Zoe Floyd each finished with 18 points in the victory while Amaya Curry added 16 points.
Apollo now sits at 5-3 as they travel to Madisonville-North Hopkins on Thursday.

Butler County 60, Trinity 41
Despite a loss to Butler County Monday, it was a night of celebration for the Trinity Lady Raiders as two of their players earned accolades afters years of dedication to the program.
Butler won the game 60-41 but Trinity’s Cassidy Morris scored her 2,000th point as a Lady Raider during the game and teammate Josie Aull was also recognized as she earned a basketball for scoring her 1,000th point recently.
Morris scored 21 points in Monday’s loss while Aull added five points and Katherine Hibbitt chipped in six points.
Trinity hosts Breckinridge County tonight in Whitesville.
