This is a story in a series on local high school athletes signing to continue their athletic and academic careers at the next level.
Daviess County senior Emilee Clark is continuing her golf career at Brescia University under Bearcat coach Jason Cox next season.
Clark helped the Lady Panthers to back-to-back runner-up region finished the last season seasons and was on the squad for DC’s regional title in 2018.
How does it feel to finally know where you’re going to attend next year and to make it official?
Finally making my college decision official is such a relief from an academic and athletic standpoint. Knowing that I’m going into a good golfing program and academic atmosphere has helped to motivate me to prepare for what college has in store for me.
Why did you choose the school you did?
I chose Brescia University because the coach (Jason Cox) and I automatically bonded, and the people at Brescia make me feel so welcome. Not to mention their academic opportunities, which I’m really looking forward to.
What stood out about the program and the coaches?
Coach Jason and I automatically bonded, and my future teammates have already made me feel like I’m officially a part of the team. I think that the most important thing about going into any athletic program is the dynamic of the team, and I think that I’m going to find the perfect atmosphere at Brescia.
What are you going to study?
I plan to major in pre-law with a minor in business. Brescia has a great program for both pre-law and business, so I’m really excited about where that takes me.
What are you going to miss about your team and school?
What I’m going to miss most about Daviess County golf is just spending time with my teammates and Logan (Clark). Some of those girls have become “my family away from family” I guess you could say, and Logan is someone I really look up to. What I’ll miss about Daviess County, in general, is that even though the students may not hang out every weekend, we all still have a connection to each other. I’m incredibly proud to be a Panther, but I look forward to becoming a Bearcat as well.
