This is a story in a series on local high school athletes signing to continue their athletic and academic careers at the next level.

Owensboro Red Devil senior Matthew Richardson is taking what he learned under Ryan Haley at OHS and taking it down the road to Brescia as he’ll play under Cameron Johnson as a Bearcat next season.

Richardson had two assists for the Red Devils this season and he’ll look to continue helping the offense move up the field next season at Brescia.

How does it feel to finally know where you’re going to attend next year and to make it official?

It feels great it’s a lot of stress relief to finally have a college picked out and making it official.

Why did you choose the school you did?

I chose Brescia cause I like the school the coach and the people there and I feel like it would be a great fit for me.

What stood out about the program and the coaches?

The program and coaches are great, coach Cameron is super nice.

What are you going to study?

I plan on studying physical therapy.

What are you going to miss about your team and school?

I’m gonna miss all my brothers and not being able to play one more full year with them is going to be hard and I’m gonna miss walking through the great halls of OHS.
