KWC women win 15th, Kaylee Clifford scored 1,000th career point

The Kentucky Wesleyan College women’s basketball team picked-up its 15th win of the season on Thursday evening. The Panthers topped Ohio Valley 94-61 at the historic Sportscenter as Kaylee Clifford became the newest member of the 1,000 point club, making her the 21st member in program history.
 
The Fighting Scots (0-19 GMAC) took an early lead in the opening quarter, but the Panthers ended the frame with a 21-15 lead. Wesleyan utilized balanced scoring to build a double-digit lead in the second quarter.
 
The Panthers (15-4 GMAC) outscored OVU 15-6 in the final four minutes of the second quarter to take their biggest lead of the game 46-27. Jordyn Barga ended the half with a three-point basket that allowed Wesleyan a 19-point lead. The Panthers shot 58% from the field in the frame and outscored OVU 25-12.
 
Throughout the rest of the game, the Panthers’ lead remained mostly north of 20 points. With seven minutes left in the contest Wesleyan held its first 30-point lead after Rachel Richardson’s offensive rebound and lay-up. With 3:15 left in the game, Clifford converted another three-point basket to record her 12th point of the night and 1,000th of her career.
 
Wesleyan made 50% of its shots from the field in the 33-point victory. Tahlia Walton led with 19 points, three rebounds, and five steals. Cali Nolot finished 13 points while Clifford scored 12 points and pulled-in eight rebounds.
 
The Panthers will host Ursuline on Saturday in the final game of the regular season. Tip-off at the Sportscenter is scheduled for 12PM CT.
