Head coach: Stephen Julian
2019 record: 16-14 (Lost to Muhlenberg County in 3rd Region Tournament semifinals)
How does it feel to finally have your season starting soon?
Very exciting. Just to be back with the opportunity to practice and play is a great feeling.
What’s your outlook for your team this season?
We lost eight seniors last season, so we will have a lot of new varsity players this season. We always have high expectations, and that does not change but we will have many new players in the varsity lineup.
Who are your top returners (include year and position)?
Abbie Gore (senior – 2B/SS) is the only returning starter w/ much varsity experience. We also have seniors Ashley Turnham (3B, C, 1B), Delainee Hayden (1B/OF), Hannah Horn (OF) and Delaney Cameron (DP).
Are there any newcomers that could make an impact this season?
When talking about varsity, it seems like every position is new. We will expect a lot of players to do their part and make as much an impact as possible.
Juniors: Morgan Julian (OF/Utility), Olivia Crawford (OF), Sydney Saalwaechter (P/Utility) Courtney Hagan (Utility)
Sophomores: Emmie Bullington (P/utility), K’Asia Palmer (P/1B), Morgan Frizzell (C/Utility) Anna Riney (P)
Freshman: Mallory Velotta (OF), Hannah Snell (Utility), Kiley Kemper (IF)
8th grade: Macey Calhoun (C,Utility)
Then there are even more who will have a shot at helping our varsity out, that I did not mention. I could basically list my whole roster of players who may get a shot at playing a little varsity from being a runner or even in the lineup. We have some depth, just really young.
What do you need to do to be successful this season?
Same as always. Play with confidence, good defense and pitching and Have some fun. The biggest key for us will be figuring out who plays where for us to have the most success with so many new everyday players at the varsity level.
