How does it feel to finally have your season starting soon?
The atmosphere that surrounds the playing fields, knowing there will be fans in the stands, opportunity to play. We had a freshman inner squad scrimmage earlier this week. When the umpires came around the corner and showed up to the field,  that was moment when girls realized the season was upon us.

What’s your outlook for your team this season?
Outlook for the team is to keep improving. The standard has always been high expectations. This off-season has been different than any other before. We have been limited to how many practices per week, how long we could practice, while following guidelines from state, KHSAA and school protocols. Not knowing weekly when we could practice or even if we could practice required patience and flexibility for players and coaches. Now, just knowing the season is days away, couldn’t have a better feeling.

Who are your top returners (include year and position)?
Now we look to leadership and varsity experience especially early in the season. We have varsity experience returning in the circle, Hadley Phelps (senior) and Lexy Hatchett (soph), behind the plate,  Gracie Jennings (senior catcher)  and along the infield Hannah Carter (senior) and Camille Conkright (junior).

Are there any newcomers that could make an impact this season?
Players with bigger roles this year that will have opportunities to make an impact include senior outfielder Gab Parson and a big sophomore class with Bailey Hamilton, Addison Tignor, Brooke Hamilton, Lilli Grant, Abbie Dukate, Ashten Tignor, Kira Edwards and Lily Pinkston.

What do you need to do to be successful this season?
Role clarity, a total buy-in by each player to accept their role on the team, being able to put WE>me, to not care who gets the credit. If we can do that, we look to have a successful season.
