Owensboro Catholic didn’t waste any time getting on the board Thursday as they cruised to the 13-1 victory over Owensboro to take the top seed in this year’s 9th District Tournament.
The Aces scored four runs in the top of the first to set the tone as Hunter Small had a big game for the second time this week.
Small went 3-3 with 3 RBIs, a run and a double in the victory while Everett Munsey went 1-3 with 3 RBIs, 3 runs and a triple. Luke Evans and Finley Munsey each added two RBIs while Luke Scales, Braden Mundy and Jamison Wall each scored twice in the victory.
Owensboro had hits from Connor Hallmark, Dylan Blair and Evan Hampton in the game as Blair also added an RBI that scored Cayden Ray.
The Red Devils hit the road today as they’ll take on Castle (Ind.)
Catholic continues play in the All “A” Classic State Tournament on Saturday where they’ll take on Crittenden County at 12:30 p.m. at Chautauqua Park.
