Despite missing a chunk of her senior year, Apollo’s Amber Dunn will get to represent the E-gals once more as she’s earned a spot in the annual Kentucky/Indiana All-Star Game.
Dunn averaged 8.5 ppg and 4.4 rpg in 14 contests for the E-gals as they made their first trip to the KHSAA Sweet Sixteen since 1997.
Dunn said she was excited and thankful for the opportunity but she’s especially looking forward to being an E-gal one more time.
“It means everything to represent a program that has given me so much,” she said. “The coaches have all helped me improve my game and without them I wouldn’t be the player or person I am today. They continue to invest and believe in me even after going through an injury. I also have great teammates. We push each other everyday in practice and make each other better. They’ve also been so supportive through everything over the years.”
Apollo coach Natalie Payne said she’s thrilled for her senior.
“Amber being named to the Kentucky All-Stars is such a prestigious honor,” she said. “She has faced so much adversity this season with the ankle injury, that it makes it extra special.
Amber is a kid that has put in the extra time, the hours of shooting and working on her game in the off season and during season. She is very deserving of this honor.”
Payne said the coaches in the prestigious all-star game were impressed with Dunn’s athleticism, rebounding and her ability to play multiple positions on the floor.
Dunn is currently undecided on her college choice but said she hopes the game could open some more doors for and and getting the chance to play in her hometown one more time makes it that much more exciting.
