Daviess County 7, Muhlenberg County 5
The Daviess County Panthers jumped on the Muhlenberg County Mustangs early and held off a late rally to take down MC 7-5 in Greenville Monday.
DC led 7-2 after the fourth inning as they put up three runs in the first frame to take the only lead they would need.
Austin Curtis grabbed the win for the Panthers as he threw a complete game with four strikeouts and three earned runs on six hits.
Decker Renfrow (3-4, R), Cason Troutman (1-4, 2 R), Garrett Small (2-3, 3 RBI, 2B) and Brock Brubaker (2-3, 2 RBIs, R, 3B) all had solid days at the plate while Owen Payne also added a hit and an RBI in the win.
Daviess County plays today at Owensboro Catholic.
Union County 5, Owensboro 3
The Owensboro Red Devils led Union County 2-1 after three Monday but then the Braves bats woke up to grab the 5-3 win.
Will Hume started on the mound for OHS and struck out three while walking four in the first three innings as he didn’t allow an earned run. D Blair came on in the fourth inning and was dealt the loss.
At the plate, C Hallmark went 2-3 while K Williams (1-4, R), E Hampton (1-2, RBI) and Hume (1-2, 2 RBIs) contributed at the plate.
Owensboro (2-8) has lost five in a row and will try to right the ship tonight when they head to Apollo for a 9th District showdown.
Ohio County 11, Trinity 0
The Ohio County Eagles took down Trinity 11-0 to hand the Raiders their fifth-straight loss to start the season.
Trinity plays at home tonight against the Owensboro Christian Knights.
