Apollo 6, Grayson County 2

The Apollo Eagles grabbed their second win in as many nights when they took down Grayson County 6-2 Friday in Leitchfield.

Apollo didn’t waste any time getting on the board in the game as they put up three in the top of the first and led 6-0 after four innings before the host Cougars scored a pair in the fifth.

Freshman Will Strode picked up the win for the Eagles after going four innings and striking out seven while allowing just one hit. Fellow freshman Noah Cook came on in the fifth and finished the game for the save.

Senior Harrison Bowman did some damage from the leadoff spot as he went 2-3 and scored twice in the victory. Nick Judd (1-3, RBI, R), Maxwell Holder (R), Dan St. Clair (1-3, 2B, RBI, R), Nolan Millay (1-4, RBI) and Tyler Payne (1-1) did damage at the plate for the Eagles.

The Eagles are now 3-1 on the year and play against Campbellsville in Bardstown for the Keaton Hall Wood Bat Memorial Tournament.

Harrison County 13, Daviess County 11

The Harrison County Thorobreds scored six in the sixth inning to take down Daviess County 13-11 Friday and hand the Panthers their first loss of the season.

DC went down 7-2 after the second inning but bounced back with nine runs over the next three frames to take an 11-7 lead into the sixth before the Thorobreds offense caught fire.

The Panthers outhit HC 11-10 as Owen Payne (2-4, 2 R), Garrett Small (2-4, 2 RBI) and Mason Boswell (2-3, 2 RBI, R) each had two hits.

Hunter Payne (1-3, RBI, R), Cason Troutman (1-3, RBI, 2 R), Zach Head (1-2, RBI, R), Decker Renfrow (1-3, RBI, R) and Lake Wilson (2 R) all contributed on the evening for the Panthers.

Daviess County is back at it this morning when they host Ohio County at 11 a.m.
