This is a story in a series on local high school athletes signing to continue their athletic and academic careers at the next level.

Daviess County senior cheerleader Allie Witherspoon will continue to rock the color red next season as she’s taking her talents to Bowling Green where she’ll be a Western Kentucky Hilltopper in the fall.

How does it feel to finally know where you’re going to attend next year and to make it official?

I feel so blessed and honored to have been given this opportunity to continue cheering – and at a D1 university like WKU.

Why did you choose the school you did?

There have been many conversations (with coaches and family) leading me to this point.  Also, a lot of prayer…

What stood out about the program and the coaches?

Throughout the past few years I have met some amazing coaches and athletes, and now that coaches Alli Lumpkin and Dalton Stanley joined WKU, I couldn’t be more excited.

What are you going to study?

Physical therapy.

What are you going to miss about your team and school?

I will definitely miss DC next year.  I have developed some great relationships with teachers, coaches, students, and cheer team members over the last four years.
