This is a story in a series on local high school athletes signing to continue their athletic and academic careers at the next level.

Owensboro’s Madyln Calabrese is taking her talents on the field to Spalding University next season as she’ll play lacrosse for the Eagles.

Lady Devil coach Carl Fehrenbacher said Calabrese is a hardworking and resilient player.

“She along with two other seniors helped me start this team from scratch four years ago,” he said. “She went from never ever having touched a lacrosse stick to being routinely complimented by opposing coaches for her stick skills and shooting abilities. Madlyn will definitely be an asset to her new team on offense but she can also be relentless on defense. The consummate team player she even played goalie for us this year.”

How does it feel to finally know where you’re going to attend next year and to make it official?
