Locals end season at KHSAA State Swimming Championships

Local boys and girls swimming hit the pool at Russell Springs today for their semi-state portion of the KHSAA State Swimming Championships.

All three sites kicked off at the same time with final results not being available until all sites were finished.

The boys got started first with Owensboro Catholic’s Cort Hobelmann having the best local finish as he took 15th in the 50-yard freestyle. Daviess County’s Trevor Church took 23rd in the same event.

Church also finished 23rd in the 100-yard freestyle while Hobelmann added a 20th-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.

For the girl’s, Owensboro’s Abby Warren was the top local finisher with a 23rd-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.

Daviess County finished 32nd in the 400-yard freestyle relay and 35th in the 200-yard medley relay. The Lady Devils finished two spots behind the Lady Panthers in the 200 medley as they finished 37th.

100-yard backstroke: 20. Cort Hobelmann (Owensboro Catholic), 32. Luke Mallot (Apollo)
400-yard freestyle relay: 25. Daviess County, 37. Apollo

GIRLS
200-yard medley: 35. Daviess County, 37. Owensboro
200-yard IM: 38. Ella Johnson (Daviess County)
50-yard freestyle: 35. Abby Warren (Owensboro)
500-yard freestyle: 38. Mark Kate Hayden (Owensboro Catholic)
100-yard breaststroke: 23. Abby Warren (Owensboro)
400-yard freestyle relay: 32. Daviess County
