The Daviess County Lady Panthers didn’t waste any time getting on the board Thursday against Webster County as Abby Newman, Hattie Newman and Jessie Daniels all had home runs in the first frame of the 17-0 victory over Webster County.
DC scored five in the first, two in the second and then 10 in the third to end the game after three innings.
Greysyne Whiteker grabbed the win in the circle after striking out six for her second win of the year.
Daniels finished 2-2 with four RBIs and two runs while Abby Newman and Katie Mewes also finished with multiple hits, including a home run.
All but one Lady Panther scored in the game with six scoring multiple runs.
Daviess County has now won four-straight games after its season-opening loss to South Warren.
The Lady Panthers play today in Booneville (Ind.) in the Southern Slam against host Booneville. DC will also take on Pike Centeral (Ind.) and Evansville Memorial (Ind.) in the two-day tournament that ends Saturday.
3rd Region All “A” Classic Tournament: Owensboro Catholic 14, Trinity 0 (5 innings)
The Owensboro Catholic Lady Lady Aces jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first and never looked back as they took down Trinity 14-0 in the 3rd Region All “A” Classic Tournament.
Hadley Phelps grabbed the win in the circle as she went three innings and struck out three while allowing just one hit. Brooke Hamilton threw the final two inning and struck out two Lady Raiders.
Phelps also helped the Lady Aces in the batter’s box as she went 2-4 with a home run, three RBIs and a run. Hannah Carter and Bailey Hamilton also had home runs in the game.
Carter (2-3, 3 RBIs, 2 runs), Camille Conkright (2-3, 3 runs), Bailey Hamilton (1-3, 3 RBIs), Lilly Grant (2 runs) and Abbie Dukate (2 runs) all had solid days for the Lady Aces.
Catholic continues their run in the 3rd Region All “A” Classic Tournament Monday as they take on Edmonson County but before that, the Lady Aces head to the Elizabethtown Pinkham Lincoln Classic where they’ll take on Male and Pulaski County.
