Apollo 9, Great Crossing 3
McCracken County 5, Apollo 3

Apollo hit the field twice Saturday at AHS as the Eagles took down Great Crossing 9-3 in their first game but fell 5-3 to McCracken County in their final game of the day.

Against GC, the Eagles scored in five of the six innings they came to the plate and cruised to the win despite being outhit 9-8.

Harrison Bowman got the win for the Eagles as he struck out one and allowed one hit in two innings of work while Noah Cook threw the final five innings and struck out three while allowing three earned runs on eight hits.

Bowman went 3-4 with an RBI and a run at the plate while Nolan Millay (1-3, 3B, RBI, 2 R), Sam Holder (1-1, RBI, R), Noah Cook (1-2, RBI, R), Maxwell Holder (2 R) and Aiden Wells (1-4, 2B, RBI) all had solid games at the plate.

Against McCracken, the Eagles trailed 3-2 after the first as that’s all the offense they would muster against the Mustangs.

Bowman and Wells had the only hits for the Eagles while Dan St. Clair finished with an RBI. Bowman and Tanner Klee each scored in the loss.

Apollo hosts Webster County on Tuesday.

Eastern 15, Owensboro 5 (6 innings)

Owensboro scored three runs in the top of the first but it was Eastern that had the offensive firepower going as they took down the Red Devils 15-5 and scored in every inning.

Blake Kimbrell led the way for OHS as he went 3-3 with an RBI and a run. Connor Hallmark (1-3, R), Cayden Ray (1-3, RBI, R), Ethan Gibson (1-2, RBI, 2 R) and Kindrick Williams (1-1, 2 RBI) also had solid days for OHS.

Owensboro hosts Muhlenberg County on Monday.

Owensboro Catholic 3, Hopkinsville 1
Owensboro Catholic 8, Lyon County 7

The Owensboro Catholic Aces beat their third and fourth top-25 team in three days Saturday when they went on the road and took down Hopkinsville and Lyon County in Eddyville.

The Aces beat Hoptown 3-1 and then beat the Lyons 8-7.

Against Hoptown, Catholic trailed 1-0 heading to the bottom of the third before scoring two in the frame and adding another in the fifth for the victory.

Hayden Ward picked up the win after he struck out 11 and allowed one earned run on five hits.

Sam McFarland went 2-3 with three RBIs while J Crabtree went 2-3 with two doubles and a run in the win. Jamison Wall also had a run for Catholic.

Against Lyon County, the Aces led 8-3 heading to the bottom of the sixth before the Lyons added three in the frame to make it 8-6 after six. LC tried to make a comeback in the bottom of the seventh but could only push one more run across.

McFarland got the win after he struck out two and allowed one earned run in four innings of work.

Braden Mundy led the Aces against Lyon as he went 3-4 with two doubles and four RBIs. Luke Scales (2-3, 3 R) and Alex Castlen (2-4, RBI) also had multiple hits for Catholic while Finley Munsey and Luke Evans each scored twice.

Catholic hosts Henderson County on Monday.
