Apollo 11, Butler County 1

Apollo scored in all but one inning Thursday as they took down Butler County 11-1 in five innings at AHS.

The Eagles scored one in the first then continued to add to their lead before they put up six in the fifth to send the Bears home early.

Tyler Payne picked up the win as he struck out five and allowed one earned run on six hits.

Nick Judd (2-3, 3B, 2 RBI), Dan St. Clair (2-3, 2B, R) and Landon Hamilton (2-3, 3B, 2B, 2 R) all had multiple hits for the Eagles while Aiden Wells added a double and three RBIs. Harrison Bowman, Tanner Klee (2), Maxwell Holder, Nolan Millay, Sam Holder and Joshua Mayes also scored in the win for Apollo.

Apollo plays Saturday at Louisville Trinity against the Shamrocks and Paul Laurence Dunbar.

Daviess County 7, Heritage Hills (Ind.) 3

Daviess County’s offense took a couple innings to get going but when it did it stayed hot for a few innings as they edged Heritage Hills (Ind.) 7-3 Thursday at DCHS.

Owen Payne earned the win as he struck out seven and allowed one earned run on five hits while walking just two. Easton Williams threw two shutout innings in relief.

Brock Brubaker (3-4, R) led the Panthers while Garrett Small had a big day with two hits, including a double, to go with four RBIs. Cason Troutman (2), Hunter Payne, Owen Payne, Jackson Loucks and Bo Stratton all scored in the win.

DC hits the road today as it takes on Union County.

Owensboro 5, McLean County 0

Owensboro senior Ethan Gibson threw a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts as the Red Devils blanked the McLean County Cougars 5-0 Thursday at Shifley Park.

Gibson faces 24 batters, three over the minimum, in the game as he threw 94 pitches and 68 strikes.

Blake Kimbrell led the Red Devils at the plate as he went 2-3 with a double, RBI and a run in the win. Cayden Ray, Will Hume, Jalen Rogers and Evan Hampton also scored in the win.

Owensboro plays at home today against Bowling Green.

Owensboro Catholic 12, Hancock County 2

The Owensboro Catholic Aces bounced back after Wednesday’s loss to Henderson County when they cruised by Hancock County 12-2.

After a scoreless first, Catholic exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the second and continued to add to their lead in the next three frames.

E Munsey earned the win after he allowed two runs on six hits in the game.

Luke Evans (2-3, RBI, 2 R), Braden Mundy (2-3, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R), E Munsey (2-3, RBI, R) and Jamison Wall (2-2, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R) all had multiple hits for the Aces while John Michael Frey finished two RBIs. Finley Munsey went 1-1 with an RBI and two runs in the win.

Catholic plays Saturday at St. Xavier in Louisville.
