Evansville Mater Dei 8, Apollo 7 (8 innings)

The Apollo Eagles couldn’t extend their winning streak to three games as they went on the road and fell to Evansville Mater Dei 8-7 in eight innings.

Apollo trailed 4-1 after the first but battled back as the game was tied 6-6 heading into extra innings. The Eagles scored one in the top of the eighth but Mater Dei responded with two in the bottom of the inning to win the game.

The 2-5 spots in the Eagles lineup did most of the damage for Apollo as they combined for eight hits, four RBIs and four runs.

Tanner Klee (2-4, RBI, 2 R), Nolan Millay (2-4, RBI, 2 R), Dan St. Clair (2-4) and Aiden Wells (2-3, 2 RBIs, 2B) all had big games for the Eagles. Landon Hamilton added a hit and a run from the No. 9 spot.

Errors plagued the Eagles as they finished with four in the game.

Apollo will attempt to get back on track Monday at Meade County.

Daviess County 5, Ohio County 3

Daviess County avoided a three-game losing streak Saturday when they beat Ohio County 5-3 in Hartford.

The Panthers led 5-1 after five before the host Eagles added two in the final frame to cut the deficit to two.

Decker Renfrow (2-4, RBI), Garrett Small (1-4, RBI, R), Zach Head (2-4, RBI), Brock Brubaker (1-4, R) and Jackson Loucks (2-4, RBI, R) all had solid days at the plate in the Panther victory.

Senior Austin Curtis picked up the win after he struck out two and allowed one earned run on six hits in 6.1 IP.

Daviess County plays Tuesday at home against Owensboro in a 9th District matchup.

Owensboro Catholic 16, Rockcastle County 0 (4 innings)
Campbell County 6, Owensboro Catholic 5

Owensboro Catholic went on the road Saturday for the Fayette County Invitational Tournament where they beat Rockcastle County (16-0) but fell to Campbell County (6-5).

Against Rockcastle, the Aces scored in every inning and jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first frame.

Hunter Small grabbed the win on the mound with seven strikeouts and only one hit with two walks.

Luke Scales followed his two-home run performance from Friday night with two hits, five RBIs and two runs.

Luke Evans (3-3, 4 R, 3B), Finley Munsey (1-1, 3 RBI, 3 R, HR), Braden Mundy (2-2, RBI, 3 R, HR, 2B), E Munsey (1-3, 3 RBI, R, 2B), Small (1-1, RBI) and Alex Castle (2-3, RBI, R) all had big hits for Catholic.

Against Campbell County, Catholic trailed 4-1 before scoring five runs in the top of the fifth. The Camels responded with two in the bottom of the frame to take the last lead of the game.

Evans and Scales each had a single and a run with Mundy scoring twice in the loss. Jamison Wall finished with a single and an RBI for the Aces.

The Aces play Tuesday at Muhlenberg County.

Union County 3, Trinity 2

The Trinity Raiders hosts Union County Saturday in Whitesville but it was the Braves that came away with the victory.

Union County scored in the fourth as the game was tied 2-2 after four but the Braves added one in the sixth to claim the victory.

Carter Crisp was dealt the loss but still had a solid performance with eight strikeouts and zero earned runs on four hits.

Gavin Goward (2-3, R) and Nathan Hernandez (RBI, R) led the Raiders at the plate.

Trinity hosts Edmonson County on Monday.
