This is a story in a series on local high school athletes signing to continue their athletic and academic careers at the next level.
Apollo’s Amber Dunn gave the E-gals a spark when she returned to the lineup late in the season and it helped her get an offer to continue her athletic and academic career as she’s taking her talents to Lindsey Wilson next season.
Dunn averages 8.5 ppg and 4.4 rpg this season for Apollo with the senior also earning a spot on the Kentucky squad for the annual Kentucky/Indiana All-Star Game next month.
How does it feel to finally know where you’re going to attend next year and to make it official?
I’m super excited to be able to play at the next level. I’m beyond excited to have finally committed and signed because the whole process can be stressful at times. However, I’m happy I found the fit for me.
Why did you choose the school you did?
I chose Lindsey Wilson because I felt at home there. I also like the coaches and can see myself playing there. It’s only two hours from home so that means my family can still come and watch some.
What stood out about the program and the coaches?
Coach Wethington has been there for 33 years. They have a history of winning and he runs a great program.
What are you going to study?
I’m not completely sure what I want to study but I think I’m going to go into elementary education.
What are you going to miss about your team and school?
I’m going to miss my teammates and coaches the most. I’ve made so many great memories here at Apollo. However, all things eventually come to an end and I can’t be more excited to start this next journey.
